Smak Dab Smash Burger on a wooden board

Smak Dab Smash Burgers

Ingredients

Burgers

  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 4 Burger Buns
  • 2 tbsp butter, unsalted, softened
  • 1 lb ground beef (sirloin, chuck or brisket)
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Cheddar Cheese, sliced thin
  • Lettuce
  • Pickles, sliced
  • Tomato, sliced
  • White Onion, sliced

Burger (BIG MAC) Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 2 tsp Ketchup
  • 1-2 tbsp Smak Dab Mustard (we love Beer Chipotle!)
  • 2 tbsp Sweet Pickle Relish
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp Onion Powder
  • ¼ tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp white or apple cider vinegar
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Form ¼ pound beef into loose 2" balls. Set aside in the freezer on a plate. Brush a 12-inch skillet with oil and set it over medium heat until shimmering.
  2. Add the butter to the pan and place the buns, cut side down on the hot skillet. Cook just until the buns are nicely toasted and set the buns aside.
  3. Remove the meat from the freezer and season generously with salt and pepper. Place in a preheated, slightly oiled cast iron skillet and press down firmly and evenly to flatten the meat. Generously season the other side of the patty with salt & pepper.
  4. Cook until caramelization begins, about 1 minute. Flip and add the cheese. Place a large lid over the burgers for the last 30 seconds to melt the cheese. If you want the burgers more well done, wait a minute before adding the cheese.
  5. Spread your burger sauce and pickles over the bottom bun. Top with 1-2 patties,
onion, tomato, lettuce and finished with a sauced top bun.
  6. Enjoy… and have a couple of napkins nearby
