Steamed Broccoli with Mustard Cheese Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2-3 small heads of broccoli, cut into florets
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 1½ cup cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 tbsp Smak Dab Mustard (Beer Chipotle, White Wine Herb, Curry Dijon)
  • 1 tsp Smak Dab Hot Honey Jalapeno Mustard
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  1. In a large pot, bring about 4” of water to a boil and add the florets- turn down to medium high heat. Place a lid on the pot, and steam the broccoli for about 5-7 minutes, or until the florets are tender and bright green but not mushy. Drain.
  2. Meanwhile, melt butter is a saucepot over medium heat. Add flour and whisk to combine. Slowly whisk in milk until well incorporated. Switch to a spatula, and stir until thickened, about 2 minutes.
  3. Turn to low heat, and add in cheese, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Serve immediately with steamed broccoli.
