Sweet + Smoky Grilled Beer Wings

Ingredients

Wings

  • 2 lbs wing drumettes, patted dry with paper towel
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp chipotle powder
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 6 turns on a pepper mill

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup amber or dark beer (we recommend Half Pints Bulldog Amber Ale or Stir Stick Stout)
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Smak Dab Beer Chipotle Mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Directions

Wings

  1. Mix spices in a bowl and sprinkle over wings. Mix well so that the wings are evenly coated with the spice mixture. If possible, refrigerate the wings in the spice mixture for 4 hours or overnight for the best flavour.

Sauce

  1. In a small saucepan, combine all the ingredients and whisk together. Simmer on medium for 10-5 minutes, or until the sauce is reduced and thick. Set aside.
  2. Place wings on a lightly greased grill over medium heat. Grill 10-12 minutes per side, then baste wings with sauce. Turn, and continue to baste until done and desired crispness is reached – total cooking time should be about 20-25 minutes. Serve immediately!
